New York City is about to be Shut Down

Have we learned anything about the price of inaction during the first few weeks? Did we learn from Hubei Province, Iran or Italy? With much of the New York City suburb of New Rochelle being shut down for at least the next two weeks, you don’t have to have much common sense to realize New York City will be next.

After botched testing has bypassed the containment phase for the U.S., spread in New York City has likely been going on for weeks. Listening to Mayor Bill de Blasio on Tuesday was enlightening.

“As of 12 noon … the number of confirmed cases in New York City is 36. That’s 16 new since yesterday and 11 new even since this morning at 7 a.m. when I last spoke about this,” de Blasio said.

This is a pandemic and some leaders are being more honest than others. Angela Merkel estimates that 60% to 70% of the German population will contract the coronavirus. However it’s the first wave of panic that may be the worst for New York City that’s coming in days.

Italy has shut down an entire country of sixty million with up to 168 deaths in a single day. Schools and Universities on the East Coast of the U.S. are about to close, as the U.S. is only about a week behind spread in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the U.K., as well as other countries.

What’s sad about the U.S. media is how insidiously corrupt it is. They are not even warning citizens. It’s like Wuhan in mid-January. For NYC, the day of reckoning is coming.

Dr. Mitchell Katz, CEO of NYC Health & Hospitals, said local hospitals are bracing for an onslaught of COVID-19 cases. Indeed how many days before NYC catches up to New Rochelle? Not very long.

New Rochelle has seen “probably the largest cluster” of US cases for now. But “now” ends in a few hours. Every day of a lack of testing means more cases spreading without our knowledge. This creates more panic when we realize the truth.

NYC is ground-zero of the worst fright for the pandemic in the United States that wasn’t ever not going to happen.

Private labs that began running coronavirus tests in New York City on Friday are reporting so many new cases that public officials are having trouble keeping up, Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters Tuesday. But with a virus that’s already been spreading for weeks, what’s Donald Trump going to say on Twitter about it? And what will it do to the stock market? There’s a fair chance that the President actually has the coronavirus at this point, or will get it.

America the free and the brave, unwilling to admit its own incompetence in the face of the virus with a lack of response that has been worse than China’s, on par with Iran’s, and such a negligence that it will be very costly, in the order of $Billions.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel gave a grave prognosis to German Parliament on Tuesday, telling members that 60% to 70% of the German population could contract the coronavirus at some point. In America on the other hand, truth is not something we do very well.

Google and Facebook ban Ads related to the coronavirus and the U.S. Government sound worse than the World Health Organization in downplaying the severity of the situation. Not to mention being false prophets of economic reforms for a quasi-rally.

“They’re coming in so intensely now that being able to give you a detailed case breakdown, we’re not in that position to do that at this moment because there are so many coming forward,” de Blasio said, speaking at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan.

The Wuhan coronavirus might end up being known as the Big Apple Virus, that’s how bad things are going to get.

Here you have a society that’s totally oblivious compared to Taiwanese and South Korean standards. You have a level of preparedness that ranks as a 2 out of a score of 10. Does the CDC know anything about testing and mitigation protocols? You aren’t even seeing measures of mitigation taking place. Until it’s too late.

China didn’t slow down the virus, it just gave us the illusion of containment fueled by an ultra conservative WHO. There is no containing a pandemic of an unknown virus. There’s no vaccine and no economy that’s an island unto itself, least of all NYC’s importance to the grandiose American economy.

Covid-19 is not a thing in NYC yet. Almost 2,000 New York City residents are in voluntary isolation while 30 people are in mandatory quarantine, he said. COVID-19 has infected more than 173 people across New York state, Gov. Andrew Cuomo told reporters earlier Tuesday. In the next week, this will go up at least 10 times. By Saint Patrick’s day NYC won’t just be shut down, it will be a mess.

Let’s just be honest and open about what’s coming. The stock market has already taken a few tumbles. Before the storm, we haven’t even seen the eye of the covid-19 storm or the waves like the drop in the price of oil.

South Korea and Italy were warning signs, but the U.S. didn’t even prepare for actual containment. No, it’s been a denial of the business world. Until we face Trump’s dishonesty with another kind of reality. That NYC will actually have to be shut down.

NYC is just 25 miles (40km) south of New Rochelle, which has 36 confirmed cases of the virus in its population of eight million people. Think about it, realize what happens next. Mr Cuomo said there would be no travel restrictions in New Rochelle (population 77,000) but large meeting points in the area would be closed. Viruses know no borders.

Dr. Mitchell Katz, CEO of NYC Health & Hospitals, said local hospitals are bracing for an onslaught of COVID-19 cases. But as northern Italy quickly found out, your healthcare system becomes quickly overwhelmed. The mass burial sites in Iran are nothing very surprising.

By the end of March, the majority of U.S. deaths will be in NYC. That’s just 2 weeks form now. NYC, the center of the world, the business and media center of the most powerful nation in the world. Living in complete denial.

A synagogue is at the centre of the New Rochelle outbreak, local media report. A man in his 50s who attended religious services is believed to be “patient zero” in the region. Around 1,000 people associated with the temple are now under quarantine. Sound familiar? You don’t need to be a super-spreader if ground zero exists in a super-spreading facility.

New York City officials are waiting on 195 test results; 258 tests have come back negative so far. In China they were doing 5,000 tests a day, in the U.S. there’s only been around 5,000 tests up until now. How long before NY State overtakes Washington State as the coronavirus capital in the U.S.? Only Massachusetts shows faster growth along with Washington State than NY State.

But NYC is where transmission will occur exponentially the quickest. We always suspected this. We have to get ready for the shock it will give our system. Our fragile system of consumer sentiment, information (mis)management and American frugality when communicating the truth.

France, Germany and Spain are following in the fate of Italy and the United States will be next. This is our common fight, but living in denial won’t spare us the shock. Better to accept reality.

It’s March 10th, and NYC will be shut down by March 20th, 2020.

Mild Symptoms Shed Virus (March 11th, 2020)

Coronavirus patients with mild symptoms are likely to be extremely contagious soon after being infected with the bug, a new study says.

Researchers revealed in the study published in the medRxiv journal that people with mild cases emit high rates of the virus during the first five days after infection, the Telegraph reported.

  • Confirmed cases in New York State are up to 193 thus far today.
  • Nassau County has six new cases of the coronavirus; Suffolk’s and NYC new cases are not connected to travel.
  • Nassau’s count of confirmed cases is up to 25 and Suffolk is up to 6 cases. In NYC the total is up to 46.
